How to Create a Software Subscription

This guide shows how to create a software subscription for any Windows or Macintosh product. Manage active subscribers with Subscription Codes or the fully automated Safe Activation Service 2.

Step 1 - Configure a Subscription Ticket File

    QuickLicense for Trialware Configure Subscription Codes Use the QuickLicense application to configure the license. Checkboxes and selections in the License dialog determine how the activation and subscription process works.

    Select a Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly time period. Indicate if you want the same Subscription Code for all customers or a computer specific code for each. Click the Make Ticket button to generate an encrypted Ticket file that defines the license.

Step 2 - Create Protected Application
    Trialware Ticket On application launch, send a Request Message to the QuickLicense runtime and get back a Response Message. This process allows your application to be activated, ensure security and validate the active subscription configured in the Ticket file.

    QuickLicense comes with examples that show how to send and receive the Request Message and Response Message strings with an API method. Alternatively, wrap the license around your application without programming using AddLicense.

Step 3 - Deploy Application
Software Activation Dialog
    QuickLicense includes the royalty-free runtime file that can be used for any number of applications or licenses. There are no fees, special installation or registry changes required. Just include the runtime and Ticket files in your application installation.

    If your configured Ticket file presents an Activation dialog, it can be linked to an Activation web page. An HTML form can collect the customer information and email it to you.

    Use the QuickLicense application to import the customer data with one command. Generate an Activation Code that is automatically emailed to the user.

    An Activation Code can be immediately generated from a script on your web site, from the Safe Activation server or from WebActivation running on your own Windows web server.

Batch Email Step 4 - Distribute Subscription Codes
    Use the QuickLicense application to distribute Subscription Codes to all active customers with one command.

    The batch email capability allows messages to be individually customized and precisely targeted. The delivery process includes preview, attachments, delivery logs, start, stop and job persistence.

Step 5 - Enter Subscription Code

    The customer enters a unique 5-digit Subscription Code once for each time period. Your software is instantly available with no internet connection required.

QuickLicense for Windows or Macintosh

The subscription process can be fully automated with Safe Activation Service 2. Vendors simply set or clear the Subscriber checkbox assigned to each Serial Number to manage a subscription.

Subscription Codes are applied to active subscribers connected to the Internet with no user action required. Subscribers with an unconnected computer can retrieve a Subscription Code from any connected computer through a secure web page presented by the Safe Activation server.
